Looking for veterinary services in Summit County?
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets’ complete health care needs.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient’s vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, modern digital X-ray equipment provides high-quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. We also have access to a Veterinary Radiologist who can provide ultrasounds in house on a case-by-case basis when additional imaging diagnostics are needed. Our doctors will do an initial interpretation of radiographs taken in-house and will also send each image out to a Vet Radiologist for additional interpretation unless otherwise noted.
Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Acupuncture: At Buffalo Mountain Animal Hospital we offer acupuncture as an alternative and in adjunct to traditional treatment modalities. Acupuncture is a safe and effective therapy that can be very beneficial in addressing neurologic disorders (such as those seen with disk disease), pain associate with muscle strain, and chronic orthopedic issues such as arthritis. It can be used therapeutically for many other ailments as well. Acupuncture is very well tolerated in our animal patients and is often a very relaxing experience. Dr. Murphy is licensed in small animal acupuncture and is happy to discuss whether this treatment would be appropriate for your pet.
Therapeutic Laser: Laser is helpful in quieting inflammation and aids in healing.
Permanent Identification: We offer implantation of microchips for identification and return of lost pets. We implant TempScan microchips which also read body temperature when scanned.
Pharmacy: We maintain an inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick products, and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets. You can also find all of our pharmacy stock and more on our online pharmacy above under “store.” Online pharmacy items can be shipped directly to you.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet’s nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance, and performance.
Specialist Referrals: We work closely with several referral practices in the state when additional diagnostics/expertise is needed.
Emergency Care: We provide after-hour emergency care when we are on call, but we are not a 24 hour hospital. When necessary or desired, we will refer to the appropriate 24 hour hospital when your pet requires constant monitoring. Call our number (970) 513 8400 to find out which vet in the county, if any, is available for after-hours care on any given night.
