Hospital Policies

Appointment Policy

To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time.

Prescription Refill Policy

Please allow at least 72 business hours for all prescription refill requests in-house. For external pharmacy requests, it can take up to a week to gain approval from the appropriate vet. Plan accordingly when your pet is running low on medication and be sure to allow time for shipping.

You can also request medication refills through our online pharmacy!

Patient Arrival Policy

For your protection, and that of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms.

All cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash.

To help reduce stress and create a more comfortable experience for all patients, we provide separate entrances and exam rooms for our canine and feline visitors. This allows us to minimize noise, scent, and visual triggers that can cause anxiety – especially for our feline friends – ensuring a calmer experience from the moment they arrive.

Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, pets may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to properly restrain your pet.

For the safety of all animals in our care, we require that, minimally, your pet’s rabies vaccination is up to date.

Important Notice About Rabies Vaccination at Buffalo Mountain Animal Hospital

At Buffalo Mountain Animal Hospital, the safety of our patients, clients, and team members is our top priority. Rabies is a serious zoonotic disease that is documented in Summit County and is 100% fatal in humans once symptoms appear. Vaccinating against rabies is not only critical to protecting animal and human health but is also required by law.

To maintain a safe and healthy environment, we require that all pets visiting our hospital be current on their rabies vaccination. If your pet is overdue, we will administer the vaccine during their visit, provided there are no medical contraindications. If you believe your pet has a condition that may prevent safe vaccination, please contact us before your appointment to discuss their specific needs.

Thank you for partnering with us to protect our community from this dangerous and preventable disease!

Drop Off and Urgent Care Appointments

For your convenience, “drop-off” appointments are available under certain circumstances like when a pet has urgent needs and no conventional appointments are available. In these cases, our doctors can examine the patient at some point between previously scheduled appointments or during a time reserved for admitted patients. Once the animal has been examined, the doctor will give you a call to go over the diagnosis and to give you discharge instructions.

We understand that at times your animal will need urgent medical attention. For such a time we do provide urgent care exams. If you feel your animal is in need of such care, please call 970-513 8400 and we will attend to the animal as promptly as possible. There is an additional fee for urgent care work-ins.

Payment Policy

We require full payment at the time that services are rendered. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. We do not accept personal checks. If you need financial resources, we recommend CareCredit as an interest deferment option and LAPS as a financial aid and/ or reimbursement option.
