We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best and living their longest:
Preventative Care and Vaccines: Because they can’t tell us out loud if something is wrong, we stress the importance of an annual preventative care examination. Your pet needs thorough exams of the body systems by a vet, vaccines, and parasite prevention to avoid many serious health problems. Schedule a preventative care exam here.
Medical Exams: Our hospital is equipped to diagnose and treat your pet when they aren’t feeling well. Call the front desk to make an appointment if your pet is having any symptoms. We can often schedule a same-day appointment.
Specialist Referrals: We work closely with several referral practices in the state when additional diagnostics or specialized care are needed.
Emergency Care: We provide emergency care when we are open, but we are not a 24 hour hospital. When necessary, we will refer to the appropriate 24 hour hospital if your pet requires constant monitoring or highly specialized procedures. If you’re having an emergency, call (970) 513 8400 to speak to our staff. If we are closed, we recommend Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital, Colorado Animal Specialty and Emergency, or the VRCC.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. Many of our in-house lab tests provide results to clients within 24hrs. We also utilize the country’s best external laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Dentistry: Our dental services include professional, anesthetized teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.
Anesthesia/Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient’s vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Radiology Services: Our on-site digital X-ray equipment provides high-quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. All radiographs are read first by our competent docs, then sent for radiologist consultation to confirm findings. Dr. Liz Hoaglund, a Veterinary Radiologist performs in-house ultrasounds on a case-by-case basis when additional imaging diagnostics are needed.
Cardiology: Dr. Carrie Ginieczki is our visiting cardiologist. If your pet needs a specialized echocardiogram or cardiac workup, you can avoid driving to the front range by scheduling a visit with Colorado Veterinary Cardiology right here at Buffalo Mountain Animal Hospital.
Acupuncture: We offer acupuncture as an alternative and in adjunct to traditional treatment modalities. Acupuncture is a safe and effective therapy that can be very beneficial in addressing neurologic disorders (such as those seen with disk disease), pain associate with muscle strain, chronic orthopedic issues such as arthritis, and many other ailments. Acupuncture is very well tolerated in our animal patients and is often a very relaxing experience. Dr. Murphy is licensed in small animal acupuncture and is happy to discuss whether this treatment would be appropriate for your pet.
Therapeutic Laser: Laser is helpful in quieting inflammation and aids in healing.
Permanent Identification: We offer implantation of microchips for identification and return of lost pets. We use Homeagain TempScan microchips, which also read body temperature when scanned! If you’re not sure if your pet already has a microchip, ask us to scan for one at your visit. We can help you make sure your contact info in the chip database is up to date.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet’s nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance, and performance.
Pharmacy: We stock pharmaceuticals, vitamins, flea, tick, and Heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets. You can pick up your pet’s meds or prescription diet in-house, or you can visit our online pharmacy to have them shipped directly to you.
